Calling all pipeline fighters–we need YOU to monitor pipeline construction on the ground!
We are looking for people to watch the construction along the pipeline route and to be our eyes and ears for justice.
Are you a pipeline fighter? Can you adopt a section of the pipeline corridor of Dakota Access’s nasty crude oil pipeline and monitor it for violations of the law?
We especially want to guard the waters and support landowners who are trying to protect their land.
If you agree, you will:
- Participate in a training call
- Receive a short guidebook to the rules for either Iowa or South Dakota with all the information you need to do the monitoring
- Monitor your segment of the pipeline when construction begins
- Notify authorities if Dakota Access violates the law
- Notify the Bakken Pipeline Resistance Coalition with regular updates by posting pictures, videos and written notes on a facebook page
- Work with the team to call for direct action, especially around water crossings and on property owned by landowners who have resisted Dakota Access’ efforts to condemn their land.

Please post your photos of construction to this public facebook group. Much of this monitoring can be done from public property–taking pictures from roadsides, for example. If you are a landowner, you have greater clout and can be especially helpful. The state did not hold Dakota Access accountable for our soil, water, and community health, so we will be eyes and ears on the ground for the public good.
Together, we will create a powerful squad of people across South Dakota and Iowa who will help to defend our land and water.
