Voices Against the Pipeline: Siblings Alex, Roland and Juliet

Kids

The following article is written by siblings Alex (age 11), Roland (age 9), and Juliet (age 6), current Iowa residents and inheritors of our future Iowa.

Hi, my name is Alex. I am 11 years old.

I think we should NOT build the Bakken Pipeline. It is going to go through Iowa! Think about the farms! Think of the watersheds! If it breaks, we will not be able to drink tap water. We won’t be able to take showers. This is not regular oil here, people. This is crude oil.

One touch of it can get you sick. It would take YEARS to clean. We will have to buy all our water from stores or markets. Many people might have to move.

Thank you for listening. Alex.

Hi, my name is Roland. I am 9. I don’t want them to put the Bakkan pipe line through Iowa and any other state in the country, because it will poison the soil and harm Iowa a lot. Please listen. If you think this is important write a letter too.

Hi my name is Juliet. I am 6 years old. I live in Iowa. I don’t want the Bakkan Pipeline to come to our state. It is not funny. If it spills, it would be bad. It would make our water bad. We would have to go buy water at the store to brush our teeth. Please do not let this happen!
